A cannoli was not part of my heritage growing up, and we didn’t buy things from the bakery. Most of the sweets we had were things my Mother would make herself. I don’t remember her ever using a boxed mix for anything. I remember when she would bake my Uncle who lived with us coming down from his room when the air was filled with those awesome kitchen smells to see what she was baking. His favorite was apple pie. I remember he would tease her and pretend to pick up the pie and steal it when she wasn’t looking. Bot could that woman bakes pies!

Later on after I was married I lived in the Bronx for many years and discovered how wonderful cannolis are. I had a friend who would spoil us with baked goods and Italian Deli Cold cuts and he introduced me to this sweet treat and it was love at first sight!

I remembered cannolis the other day when we were talking at work other day about this grocery store that makes cannoli Cream dip. The grocery store is far away, and nobody lives close enough to pick it up on the way to work.
