  • 2 cups butter
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 12 ounces of salted Caramel sauce


  • Preheat oven to 325°
  • Line in a 9 x 13" baking pan with aluminum foil.
  • Set the pan aside
  • Attach paddle attachment to kitchen mixer
  • Combined the butter, and both sugars and mixed together until creamed well making sure to scrape down the sides as you go
  • Add the vanilla and mix well
  • Add flour and mix together until all is well combined for about one minute until it forms a ball. The dough should not be sticky or crumbly
  • Place about 1/2 the dough into the bottom of your pan and press to form what will become your crust. If you do not press down the crust the caramel will disappear into it and not form a layer of caramel
  • Place baking pan in oven and bake for 25 minutes
  • While crust bakes place your batter in the refrigerator to stay cold
  • After 20 minutes remove your pan from the oven and pour your Caramel on top evenly keeping it away from the edges as much as possible
  • Remove your cooled batter from the refrigerator and crumble the rest of the batter on top of the Caramel. This will form your top layer
  • Place your pan back in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until it is golden brown. You may see the caramel bubbling a little and that is ok
  • Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool
  • Let cool completely before slicing
